How to Disable Microsoft Office Upload Center in Windows 10

Hi David,

We suggest removing the Microsoft Office Upload Center from the notification area in Windows 7.

Please follow the steps below to do this:

  1. When the Upload Center is running, right-click its icon in the system tray, then select Settings to open Upload Center window.

    Note:
You can also access the Office Upload Center from the Start menu by selecting All Programs, then click Microsoft Office 2016 Tools > Office 2016 Upload Center
  2. In the Upload Center, click Settings.
  3. Under Display Options, uncheck the box for the Display icon in notification area.
  4. Click OK to accept the change and close the dialog box.

Remember, even if you remove the Office Upload Center from the notification area, you can still access it using the Start menu.

Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem.

One drive no longer syncs.  Stopped doing it early last week.

On this computer there are 2 'User' areas and neither of us can sync our Onedrive.  We can save to it, download to it, but it won't sync.  Have tried all the microsoft recommendations to no avail.

This follows both of us getting a pop up saying that our drive letter had changed; we keep our 'Onedrive' folders on an external drive.

In the past, this has changed it's own drive letter - but on this occasion it has retained the correct drive letter.

If we run the program 'onedrive' it tries to sync but seems to get stuck and I end up with two 'Onedrive' icons in the task manager, bottom right of screen, that when I move the mouse over them, they dissappear.  Strange!

To further assist you, we recommend running the application called Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) information which provides a detailed report of your installed Office programs. This will help you identify any problems that are found when OffCAT scans your computer. It also provides a link about each problem so that you can read about possible fixes. Please check the article here.

Keep us posted.

Dear all,

I am running a company and am subject to a number of legal obligations. For this reason I need to be able to disactivate this upload center to reduce/eliminate any risks of accidential upload. Just making the software disappear from the taskbar is not sufficient. Also desactivating will reduce the use of ressources.

My personal opinion - I am fed up with all the software telling me what to do and forcing me to accept functions I do not need. I can see a lot of advantages with cloud-based systems, but it will remain under my control who I choose. I am passing already too much time to ensure that our software is compliant with local laws and own procedures. This is a waste of time and makes older systems much more interesting again.
